Photography for me is an enigma. I fell into this career by a fortunate accident. Statistics will tell that only 13% of people worldwide will find the job that they love. Photography is my passion. This is my purpose. I strive every day to become better and I love the journey.
Photography has allowed me to travel the globe sharing pivotal milestones and personal events with people who entrust me to capture these priceless memories and allow me to tell their story my way.
I am Martin Short and I have been a professional photographer with over 15 years’ experience based in Gauteng, South Africa. My work like my creativity is constantly evolving. Remaining current with the latest editing and photographic trends you can be assured that your photographs will be mind-blowing mentor aspiring photographers as well as frequently lecture on the subjects of printing and photography.

Mr Carson from Downtown Abbey once famously quoted, “The business of life is the acquisition of memories,” but even more so are those memorable moments and events captured on film for print for ourselves, family and friends to re-live!
That’s what I live and strive for: to capture that fleeting moment that may be lost in time but can be relived on film. It’s with this commitment that I have remained a classic portraiture and photojournalist at heart for more than two decades of photography. My love of line and form recently opened a new career path in the form of Architectural photography and winning the Steel and Construction Award’s Architectural Photograph of the Year was an unexpected accomplishment.
South African born photographer, Martin Osner (1963), favours a more expressive vision that accords with his visual understanding and spiritual appreciation of the world. After growing up in Johannesburg, Martin soon began to establish a solid reputation as a professional photographer and artist, opening his first photographic studio in 1985. From here, Martin went on to co-found the National College of Photography in 1993; an establishment that today has gone on to become a premier photographic training institution in Southern Africa.
As a multi-award winning artist and being voted the best contemporary international artist 2008 / 2009 by ArtequeArt Volume 3 (Masters of Today), Osner eschews “straight forward” photography. His work is characterized by an urge to explore, with the willingness to experiment. He bears out his belief that simplicity is the cornerstone of successful imaging, by concentrating closely on elemental form, pattern and shape, paired with a necessary sense of restraint.
Today Martin is based in Cape Town, South Africa, where he specialises in a contemporary portfolio of fine art photography, sold through his own signature gallery in Green Point, Cape Town. His collection consists of ghostly abstract renditions, moody landscapes and social documentary imaging, offered in limited edition Gicleé and traditional black & white vintage prints, in a collectors’ market.
From capturing an intimate off- screen moment of Robert de Niro; to Nelson Mandela laughing at his birthday celebration; from innovative images of Emperors Palace to Tiger Woods’ triumphant whoop at the Million Dollar Golf challenge – these are the type of events that acclaimed South African photographer Peter Morey has been excelling at for over 21 years.
It’s no secret that for Peter, photography is both his profession and his passion. And it shows in the broad range of powerful images in his photographic portfolio.
After joining the Pretoria News photographic department in 1981, Peter went on to become its chief photographer, a position he held until resigning in 1990.
A year later, he channelled his creative expertise into his own business venture, Peter Morey Photographic.
Since then his Pretoria-based business has grown steadily, boasting an impressive array of clients that rely on Peter to deliver perfect images on time, every time.
Years as an award winning news photographer have not only enhanced Peter’s photographic expertise, but also honed his visual eye, timing and ability to anticipate the action even before the camera starts clicking.
Despite an enviable reputation in the industry as one of South Africa’s leading corporate, event and celebrity photographers, Peter remains refreshingly humble, down to earth and matter of fact about his achievements.
